The scans don't tax the PC's resources so they should run quietly int he background. I would also suggest adjusting for two scans a day (6 hours apart) versus one a day. For me those were set to times when I've powered down my PC. I suggest going into Settings, then Automated Scheduling to Edit the automatically set times. Setting the schedule to automatically update the program is something that is done when the product is installed.
